The term \u201cSecurities\u201d<\/strong> \nis defined as shares, bonds, debentures, founders\u2019 shares and other \nsecurities or companies or other legal persons, incorporated in Cyprus \nor abroad and options thereon. A circular has been issued by the Tax \nAuthorities in 2008 further clarifying what is included in the term \nSecurities. According to the circular the term includes, among others, \noptions on Securities, short positions on Securities, futures\/forwards \non Securities, swaps on Securities, depositary receipts on Securities \n(ADRS, GDRS), rights of claim on bonds and debentures (rights on \ninterest of these instruments are not included), index participations \nonly if they result on Securities, repurchase agreements or Reports on \nSecurities, units in open-and or close-end collective investment \nschemes). The circular also clarifies specific types of participation in\n foreign entities which are considered as Securities.
